Street Fighter IV clip from Japan
March 1st, 2008 | by Tarun Kunwar |I’m starting to feel a bit iffy about this game. From what I gather from the footage, Street Fighter IV may wind up being nothing more than a poor man’s Street Fighter EX
No combos, no counters and no 3D/8 way stepping?
Dammit Capcom.

Street Fighter IV `AOU` Trailer
Street Fighter has gone biblical on us folks. “Abel?” Bol is a cross between Guile and Zangief. They should have gone 3D.
And I’m fully aware that I’m contradicting myself.

Those two videos don’t even look like the same game. The second looks cel-shaded (and more bad-ass, imo). Maybe I shouldn’t be one to talk, given that I don’t really play fighting games, but I don’t think ALL games need to go 3d. Side-stepping and counters are another thing, though. It looks like they want to stay loyal to the series. You know if they hadn’t, people would bitch a whole lot more than if they did. But than again, if it’s just the same game with prettier graphics… what’s the point? Just from looking at the videos, it doesn’t look like a thing has changed since I played SFII on SNES back in the day.

I agree. The first video looks as if Japan has gotten ahold of an polished up Arcade port of Super Street Fighter II HD Remix, not a brand new Street Fighter in itself. I’m more than likely wrong, but that game looks shifty to me, or limited in functionality.

What drives me nuts is the fact that they’ve made us wait over a decade to come out with this game that looks like a next gen port of Street fighter 2 with a couple of a handful of mundane characters.
At least we know resident evil 5 will kick ass.
