BioShock demo released

After the very anti-climatic (translation: weak sauce) trailer on Spike, the BioShock demo went live. Hop aboard the slow train if you want to play any time soon. I thought the trailer did a terrible job showing off the game, but actual gameplay should more than make up for it. I’ll have my impressions up if this download ever finishes.

Note to self: Stranglehold kicks major ass

I couldn’t have been less excited about Stranglehold. That all turned around when I played the demo today. Good lord. What it lacks in graphics (which, despite what I’ve read from some people, aren’t too shabby) it more than makes up in production values. It totally captures that ass-kicking, action movie feel. Except you are at the controls. The ass kickin controls, that is.

I don’t know what else to say, just play the demo yourself and get hooked. After that moment of glee, the sorrow will kick in when you realize that’s another $60 hole in your pocket this holiday season.

How to turn a penny into $10 million

I might have been living under a rock, but I was just introduced to Moola. To concept is simple. If you double a penny 30 times, you have over $10 million dollars. For real, do the math. Every member on this site is given a penny (ad driven) and you can risk your penny in a duel with another player. There are three flash games you can play. Win, and you get the other guys penny (don’t feel too bad, when you go broke, you are given another penny.

Now you’ve got 2 pennies! Play and win again, and you’ve got 4 pennies. Win 30 times, and you’ve repeatedly doubled your money to a staggering $10 million. It’s not completely a crap shot though, since you can cash out any time. You also don’t need to risk all your money at one game, since you can play any level up to and below what you can afford.

People do end up amassing a pretty large sum of cache (with pics of checks to prove it). All it takes is a lucky streak. If you win just 12 games in a row, you’ve already turned that penny into $40.

At the very least, I know you waste enough time on the internet playing flash games, it’s just as well you try to win some cash while doing it.

The site is still in beta phase and requires an invite, but I’ve got almost 100 on a first come, first serve basis: click here for an invite.

In case we meet in a match, my name is Skitals… prepare to be owned ;)

Update: By the way, you can also get “boosters” for completing sponsors offers. You know, the usual… trial for this, trial for that. One I thought would be of special interest is a free Gamefly trial. You get $17.60 added to your account for doing the trial. You can either cash that money out, or try your luck at doubling it a few times!

Xbox 360 and Halo 3 top Amazon Bestseller List

Amazon Bestsellers

I actually didn’t think Xbox 360 would be able to top the Amazon video game bestseller list, given that sales are divided amongst 3 separate SKUs, unlike the Wii and PS3 when they held the title. The 20GB Xbox 360 has made it to the top anyways, with the Elite close behind at number 11. Also making the top ten… twice… is Halo 3. The regular edition is sitting at number 2, with the Limited Edition at number 8. Forza 2 and Madden 08 for Xbox 360 also sit in the top ten.

Amazon sales rank might not be a huge indicator of success, but it does tell you something. When PS3 took number one after it’s price drop, people were shouting the end is nigh. Here is proof that whenever you drop the price of something, a sales boost will follow. It might be worth noting that Xbox 360 has the biggest software boost to go along with that hardware. I’m just hoping all the new console owners will give some friendly competition online.

360′(s) to Support HDMI

360 HDMI

This one was kind of a shocker, (especially amidst all of the price drop buzz). I remember conversing with “the man” and his frustration over the Elite’s HDMI capabilities. His main quarrel with the new SKU was something along the lines of: (They’re forcing you to buy the Elite if you want HDMI).

According to Joystiq, Microsoft never claimed for the Elite to be the only model with HDMI support.

The revamped consoles are expected to hit markets in late August/ early September.

This has been a very downhill battle for MS.

Grand Theft Auto IV delayed to Q2 2008!

Posted: August 2nd, 2007 | Author: Justin Nolan | Filed under: PS3, Xbox 360 | 14 Comments »

From the press release:

Take-Two is reducing its fiscal 2007 guidance primarily to reflect the movement of the launch of Grand Theft Auto IV for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360â„¢ video game and entertainment system from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007 to fiscal 2008, due to additional development time required to complete the title. The title is now planned for release in the Company’s second quarter of fiscal 2008.

The bad news is you wont be killing any hookers until Q2 2008. The good news is you will be $60 less in debt this holiday season. With so many AAA titles coming out between now and the end of the year, I don’t think GTA would have been overshadowed, but hopefully this will give some other games an opportunity to perform well.

Two Long Ass Months

We are in a drought. Every game under the sun right now either sucks, or has been grossly played out. I had this dream the other night that UPS delivered me the Halo 3 Legendary Edition…and Alyssa Milano was the UPS lady. =) (The video is from Microsoft’s Conference which was held in my favorite city).

For $130, they should throw in a Zune with that helmet.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to build a time machine.
