Halo 3 “Narrows” footage from PAX

Posted: August 28th, 2007 | Author: Justin Nolan | Filed under: Halo 3, Video | 8 Comments »

The internet exploded yesterday with videos of the Halo 3 Guardian map from the PAX Omegathon. Here is the second and final map shown, Narrows. Now excuse my newbishness for a second, but what was the green blob shooting gun?! I checked the Halo 3 wikipedia entry, but there is no mention of it in the weapons category. Whatever it is, it looks like it can do some massive damage. Even in the hands of that rather bad player, it got some quick kills. So did the fire bomb.

Green blobs sounds like the plasma pistol/rifle, but I’m no Halo expert.

the green blobs look like a weaker version of a feul rod cannon.

No no, I know the plasma pistol :) This is a new gun. Watch at the one minute left mark. It’s an over the shoulder weapon like the Spartan Laser.

Nemo1986, yes, you’re right. According the the Halopedia: “In addition, it has been weakened to 65% of it’s previous strength, to compensate for the large clip size and a faster rate of fire.”

I somehow completely missed this gun in halo 2 *scratches head* Was it only in campaign, or am I just that inept?

Ah, the fuel rod cannon. That would explain the unusual looking ammo he was reloading with. Like I said, I’m no Halo expert.

Yeah, that’s definitely the fuel rod cannon. It was in Halo 2, like Justin said, but only in campaign. It should be interesting to see how it works in multiplayer, come September.

I swear the only reason that weapon wasn’t in multiplayer was because it’s so damn cheap.

Think of it as a 10 shot rocket launcher…

Well they DID nerf it quite a bit. Although it still looked like it owned in the video.
