Xbox 360 Elite production photos
March 26th, 2007 | by Justin Nolan |While we don’t need much more confirmation, here are some of the first shots of the black Xbox 360 Elite, straight out of the manufacturing plant in China.

You can barely make out “120″ on the HDD. These shots come from the Chinese gaming message board TGFCer.com.
Any of you planning on picking up an Elite? I’m considering it, if only for a quieter drive and cooler cpu. Although, there is still no confirmation if this will have the 65nm chip or not. Hopefully all will be (officially) revealed soon.

side note: did you notice the photo time stamp? Do you think these have been in production a while, or the photographer just doesn’t have the date set correctly on his phome/camera?

I think it’s great they’re releasing the new 360’s, but I personally won’t be investing in them or a new 360 or even the 120 gig hard drive until I can get one for $100 max. The 20 gig will do me fine until I really see it fit to spend the extra dough to upgrade. I’ll wait it out for a while and see what happens or if there becomes an incentive (free games) to upgrade.

I actually think it is a load of crap that they are gonna make a black xbox 360 with a bigger harddrive for only supposedly $79 more!!! One reason is they said they will NEVER make a black 360 and I paid my $400 already for supposedly the best of the best and I want that!! I bought a Xbox 360 with supposedly 20 gb hdd but no I got only 13 usable gigs!!! I dont care about the HDMI or different drive I just want atleast my 20 gb hdd. If I dont get the option to pay the extra $79 for the bigger 120 gb hdd I may sue due to false advertisment on MS part. They said you were getting a 20gb hdd and all I got was 13 so therefore I won the lawsuit already.

jagr200, while I understand your frustration, you ARE getting a 20gb hdd. Nowhere do they say there is 20gb of usable space, however.
This is the case with any device with a hdd. iPods, PCs, etc, all have less usable space than the advertised specs.
And no one said that by buying the Premium system you were buying the “best of the best.” You got your console as advertised (less the hdd argument).
Still possibly frustrating, but the new Xbox coming out doesn’t make your purchase any less.
Microsoft isn’t the first to do this either. The Nintedo DS Lite and PS2 Slim come to mind. It’s just the price of being an early adopter!

I wish Microsoft would just let you use any old SATA HDD or allow you to save to a network drive or something…

I agree. I don’t see why we can’t just use a USB drive for additional storage. I realize you can play music and such off usb devices, but I want to be able to download marketplace content, and use it for gamesaves. This would also help to de-gimp the core sku.
